Abstract

The device is intended for feeding solid fuels from a hopper etc., to the delivery point of the grate of a furnace especially of the inclined grate type, in which the fuel is fed in controllable quantities by means of discharge and feeding devices, by way of a sluice, which acts as a stream against radiant heat, and of a down comer shaft, to the delivery point. An intermittently operating distributor for the fuel, taking up the width of the grate, is placed in front of the sluice. The distributor is provided with a worm conveyer, at right angles to the longitudinal direction of the grate. The device ensures unform feeding-rate and even distribution of fuel supply across the width of the grate with reliable and adaptable means.
