Abstract

The air bubble manometer has a capsule (1) with a flexible bellows (3), a transparent and rigid spherical cap (4) of plastic material, a liquid (5) which fills almost the whole of the capsule (1) to leave a bubble of air (6), a guard (11) to protect the cap (4), and a threaded case (14) and washer (9) to attach and seal the manometer to the case (7) of a container of gas. Any change in pressure of the gas in the container will affect the deflection of the bellows (3) and this deflection is transformed by the liquid (5) into a change of the size of the air bubble (6). The size of the air bubble (6) can easily be determined by reading its diameter using circular graduations (10) on the plastic cap (4). The manometer is useful for checking gas pressure of domestic gas containers.
