Abstract

The engine described in the main patent has a number of cylinders in which air is compressed and then water is injected into each cylinder in turn. The heat of compression evaporates the water and the steam thus generated drives the engine. This addition to the main patent uses a pump (2) to supply water under pressure to the condenser (31). The water then passes through the electric heater (24a) where its temperature is raised to a value just below the boiling point corresponding to its pressure, i.e. to about 400 deg.C. On being injected into the engine cylinder it then evaporates extremely rapidly to produce steam to drive the engine.
