Abstract

A heat exchanger has a duct-like casing (14) through which e.g. hot air is forced in one direction, and air heated by contact is extracted in the opposite direction. Each end of the duct is closed by a plate (15), with side sheets attached to a top sheet (17) and a bottom sheet (18) which are shorter than the overall length, so that a feed opening (20) and a delivery opening (21) are left at the top, while feed and delivery openings (22, 23) are similarly left at the bottom. The whole is divided into upper and lower chambers by a corrugated sheet (13) forming the heat exchange surface. Many variations on this basic design include ends shaped to guide the flows through the chambers, and different shapes, constructions and arrangements of the heat exchange sheet.
