Abstract

The propulsion unit comprises an accumulator battery pack and one or more electric drive motors which provide a parasitic capacitance and a leakage resistance w.r.t. the vehicle's earth. The measurement device has an alternating voltage source connected to the vehicle's earth through a capacitor and connected also to the negative terminal of the battery of the propulsion unit through an impedance. Means are provided for detecting the voltage across the terminals of the impedance and an associated device controls the power supply to a warning device when the leakage resistance of the propulsion unit falls below a safety threshold.
