Abstract

The invention concerns a device for measuring the capacity of batteries installed in motor vehicles, which provides an assessment of the available capacity of the battery prior to start.In accordance with this invention, the device consists of an electronic shunt with an easily-adjustable equivalent resistance based upon the measured battery capacity; a delay and commutation unit that establishes the controlled duration of the discharge; and a differential voltmeter with memory that measures the difference between the battery voltage at the end of the discharge and a reference voltage.<IMAGE>
