Abstract

Blowing agent comprises (a) 40-60 wt. %. CCl3F, (b) 15-25 wt. %. C2H5Cl and (c) 20-40 wt. % CH2Cl2. Pref. compsns. comprise a: b: c = 57 : 23 : 20 or 50 : 20 : 30 or 40 : 20 : 40. The compsn. pref. contains also 0.3 wt. % of allo-ocimene. The blowing agents can be used for forming flexible polyurethane foams, e.g. from 2,4-and 2,6-toluene diisocyanate with a polyol. eg. polyether polyols obtd. by reaction of a polyol such as glycerol with a ethylene oxide or 1,2-propylene oxide. Water issued as main blowing agent. The combination of a, b and c is cheaper than CCl3 Falcone but is otherwise used as in US. 3072582. Tert. amine catalysts, eg. triethylenediamine and tin catalysts, eg. Sn (II) octanoate, dan be used in the formation of polyurethane. The catalysts can be used in combination to obtain a balance of props. Silicons regulate the cell size.
