Abstract

A sugar basin for restaurant use has a tray shaped container portion holding the sugar, and a hinged cover which is designed to remain open when sugar is removed, and which swings down to seal the top. The front edge of the cover is flanged out to fit over the front edge of the container and form a stop surface. The flanged down rear edge of the cover terminates in a horizontal portion which, when the cover is in the open position, is vertical, and which engages a V shaped depression between two V shaped upright lips on a resilient buffer block on the rear of the container so that the lid is held in an open position slightly tilted back from the the vertical.
