Abstract

Periodic actuating signal for motor vehicle combustion engine ignition system is generated by one or more parameters, preferably by the rotational speed of a shaft. The actuating signal is generated with a phase shift which depends on the rotating speed. The ignition system based on this principle uses only electronic components and it is actuated by a mark on the rotating shaft. A vacuum cell may be used in systems whose ignition shift depends on the vacuum. The system generates voltages which are proportional to the time required for given angular displacement. These signals are stored and subsequently second signals are generated, which are linear functions of time. An actuating signal is generated when the first signal voltage is equal to that of the second signal.
