Abstract

A yarn sensor comprises a calibrated guide duct through which the yarn freely passes and a pressure gas jet issuing from an inlet communicating with the duct and directed onto the yarn. The inlet is connected to a chamber to which the gas is supplied and the pressure in the chamber is amplified and measured to determine the presence of the yarn in the guide duct. The device works consistently and is cheap. It not only detects the presence of the yarn but can also test for variations in diameter.
