Abstract

The frequency converter reduces selected bands to below 80MHz employing three individual mixing stages, the first receiving the input frequency which may be in the 45 to 300MHz band and the variable frequency local oscillator working between 375 and 630 MHz. The second mixer is synchronised by a quartz oscillator at 310MHz through a multiplying circuit having a multiplication factor 'N'. The third mixer is also controlled by the quartz oscillator via a further multiplier (factor M) and forms part of the automatic frequency feedback control loop to the variable frequency oscillator. 'M' and 'M' would be 3 and 2 respectively.
