Abstract

The ventilator is designed to give a steady discharge of smoke, air etc, unaffected by wind and weather, and comprises a housing of any shape, in metal or other material fitting round the orifice on which it is mounted by angle brackets, sealed and resting directly on the chimney-stack. The ventilator conduit is enclosed at the top and protected from side winds by a housing with concave curved sides. Above and clear of it is a gutter of semicircular section and acting as a suction device due to the depression caused by deflection of wind passing between it and the housing. The latter can be of truncated pyramidal or cone section, and of zinc, asbestos, cement, concrete or metal.
