Abstract

1,031,206. Chimney tops; ventilators. SOUTH EASTERN GAS BOARD. April 28, 1965 [May 1, 1964], No. 18240/64. Heading F4J and F4V. A flue pipe or soil pipe vent terminal comprises a base portion 14 forming part of a monopitch tiled roof surface 13 at the ridge and a cover portion 16 defining a sloping passage 20 with open upper and lower ends 22, 21 which may be covered by grilles or louvres and an aperture 15 opening into passage 20. Below the aperture 15 a connecting portion 17 is bolted to an adaptor portion 18 connected to the pipe end. Wind flow through passage 20 exerts an extractor effect through pipe portions 17, 18. The flange portion 23 of the terminal overlies supporting wall 10 to retain the terminal in position. A flange 24 may be incorporated to prevent entry of rain. The terminal may be made of baked clay, asbestos cement or sheet metal. The cross-section of the passage in the vicinity of the aperture may be reduced to increase the extraction effect.
