Abstract

The breather has a cylindrical casing (11) closed at the top and open at the bottom, with a flange (12) for fitting to the tank. At the upper part of the cylinder is a tube (13) which carries a branch to the purifying element container. Inside the casing is a flexible membrane (14), with an orifice (15), separating the inside and able to engage a valve member (16) which is normally seated on an annular seat (17) by a spring (18). The valve member (16) is in plastic and forms a sealing joint. The passage of liquid is prevented by a porous filling (23) and the membrane closes the valve for a set range of internal tank pressures.
