Abstract

The pressure relief valve is for fitting to an automobile petrol tank. It guards against both under and over pressure in the tank. The cap (10) closes a pipe (12) via a sealing (14) and there is an external cap (18). A cupel (20) is fixed with its opening towards the base. There are interior and exterior joints (28) (30) and a flexible diaphragm (32). The joints are made of synthetic rubber and the diaphragm is of stainless steel. There is a valve (64) of disc type with a spring (70) pressing on it and also another spring (62) to assure closure. There is a hole (80) in the valve used for under pressure. Over pressure is also handled by the assembly.
