Abstract

A stationary ring (4) is fixed in an annular recess (11) in the case (1) and around the shaft (2) using a flat gasket (12) on the outer edges. In this ring is a seal ring (14), fitting in a second recess, having O ring seals (15, 16) each side and able to float on pins (20). On the shaft is another seal ring (7), floating on the shaft but with an O ring seal (9) between it and the shaft. The mating surfaces (10, 19) of the two seal rings form the seal, the necessary pressure between them being obtained from a spring (8) held by a stop (5) and screw (6) onto the shaft.
