Abstract

The sides and back of a piece of furniture are formed by planks held together by tongue and groove joints. Shelves etc. are supported using short plank lengths which have triangular grooves cut on the top and bottom edges. The shelf has a strip fixed to its end, forming triangular section ridges. These ridges are used to support the end of the shelf between two short plank lengths. The back edge of the shelf has triangular section grooves on top and bottom, and rectangular section inserts are used to hold it between the short plank lengths. When a shelf is not required at a given level, lengths of the same edge strip can be used as spacers between the short planks.
