Abstract

The anti-slip spike for shoe heels etc. comprises a sprung cranked lever embodying the spike which is mobilized by a sliding mass, the mechanism being contained within a hollow heel. A sharp blow on the back vertical heel face (i.e. effected by a reverse kick against a wall or the floor) causes the mass to slide in this direction, rotate the crank lever and effect projection of the spike and vice versa. The mass slides longitudinally inside the heel and has a pointed nose, square back and concave upper face and is maintained in its fore or aft stations by a sprung ball type catch and the cranked lever return spring is of conical form.
