Abstract
1304638 Tracks for toys H NEUHIERL 19 April 1971 [4 Aug 1970] 21492/71 Heading A6S A jump ramp for toy vehicles comprises a jump-off portion, portion 1, Fig. 1, having a ramp 4 of adjustable inclination up which the vehicles pass so as fly freely onto a landing portion 2 having markers 12 pivoted in a base 12 and turned-over flat when engaged by the vehicles, so as to indicate how far the vehicles have travelled The jump-off and landing portions 1, 2 are connected by a track section 3 which can be replaced by a track section of different length, to adjust the vehicle flight distance. The ramp 4, Fig. 4, of the jump-off portion is resilient, having its end towards the landing portion free, and rests on, a wedgeshaped adjuster 18 movable along the jumpoff portion by a hand-actuated Bowden control 16, 17 against the biass of a spring 19 to vary the angle of ramp inclination. The wedgeshaped adjuster 18 is engaged between a downwardly-inclined cam surfaces (22), Figs. 3a, 3b (not shown) fast beneath the ramp 4, and upwardly-inclined cam surfaces 20 fast in the jump-off portion body. The landing portion 2, Fig. 4, has a series of individually pivoted markers, biassed by spring tongues (27), Fig. 5 (not shown) either to remain erect, as shown, or when knocked down by the passage of a vehicle, to stay down. The knocked-down markers 12 can subsequently be returned to the upright position shown, e.g. by actuation of a trigger 14 to slide a recessed setter plate (28) lengthwise of the landing portion 2. In a modification for use with electromotordriven vehicles, a guide groove (33), Figs. 8, 9 (not shown) is formed in the track centre of the landing portion and a current -conductor (34) extends along the groove: in this form, the single pivoted markers 12 are replaced by pairs of markers, one of each pair on each side of the guide groove. The toy vehicles may alternatively be battery powered, clockwork, or propelled by hand or gravity.
