Abstract
A hollow centrifuge drum rotated at high speed has an axial inlet for the dusty air at one end, and a clean air outlet at the other. A fixed inlet sheath is connected at one end to the engine intake, and at the other by a running sealing joint to the drum outlet. A round body deflecting the air jets is mounted coaxially inside the drum, and in the annular space between it and the drum wall there is a deflector rotor imparting turbulence to the dirty air. A fine-mesh gauze filter can be mounted upstream of the drum inlet. The drum wall can be continuous, and its axis vertical, the inlet being at the bottom.
