Abstract
The storage tank is for heated water, for the recovery of lost calories from a conventional or nuclear power station, for utilisation for district heating. A reservoir is horizontally divided into two compartments by an impervious, thermally insulating pressure transmitting diaphragm. The upper compartment is open to the atmosphere, and accommodates a heavy mass. The mass is of a thickness, so that it exerts an even pressure onto the diaphragm, to compensate for the pressure, applied by the heated water in the lower compartment. The lower compartment is supplied by a feed circuit, and in turn feeds an outlet circuit. The mass of water in the lower compartment, feed and outlet circuit remains constant, being independent of the action of the storage tank.
