Abstract

Hydraulic binder has the compsn. 30-80 (35-55)% CaSO4, 1/2H2O of alpha or beta type, 10-50 (35-45)% anhydrous burnt CaSO4, 0-40 (0-15)% tricalcium silicate (C3S) 0-60 (5-20)% beta-dicalcium silicate (beta-C2S), 0-20 (1-15)% of a hydraulically inactive phase, in which the total calcium silicate content is 3-60 (6-25)%. The hydraulically inactive component may be partly or wholly lime. The compsn. may also contain additives, set retarders, fluidifiers etc. esp. 0.01-0.1% of kentin as retarder. Concrete formed from the binder does not expeniol under water.
