Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a compsn. which increases water retention characteristics and plasticity, makes it possible to prolong the open time, and firmly bonds, tiles, by adding small amounts of a nonionic cellulose ether and calcium gluconate to a hydraulic cement.
CONSTITUTION: The titled compsn. consists of 100pts.wt. hydraulic cement (A) (e.g. Portland cement or aluminous cement), 0.05W1pts.wt. nonionic cellulose ether (B) having an average esterification degree of 1.6W2.5 per one glucose unit (e.g. methyl cellulose or hydroxylethylmethyl cellulose) and 0.05W1pts.wt. calcium gluconate (C). By adding the components (B) and (C), the excellent water retention characteristics and the plasticity of the bonding compsn. are increased, the prolongation of the open time is made possible, the workability is improved and the bond strength is increased.
