Abstract

Mixtures consisting of plaster and a material supplying water, such as moist gypsum or water using Plaster of Blaine surface area 500-15000 cm2/g is used at 30-100 wt. %. The excess of water over the stoichiometric amount required for set is 0-15 (2-8) wt.%. The method consists of intimately mixing the plaster, the water supplying material and water, moulding and compression in the mould for a short time, to give a moulding which has high mechanical strength without drying. High mechanical strengths are obtd. in mfr. of parts by compression at low pressures unlike prior art where pressures >100 kg/cm2 were required.
