Abstract

Lead-acid accumulator plates have orthodox overall shape but to increase the active content whilst maintaining the plate retentiveness and general strength the normal grid structure is replaced by vertical rods parallel to the long edge of the plate and tapering towards the base. Diagonal finns or ribs form an interconnectiong mesh in which the active material of the battery electrode is situated. The frame of the plate is of a heavier gauge and has integral connecting lugs at either end. The mesh allows maximum use of the active material insofar as available current and maintainance. of E.M.F. is concerned.
