Abstract

The metering device is intended for measurement of the instantenous fuel consumption of a motor vehicle internal combustion engine fitted with a mechanical pump. A scale is attached to the dial of the meter for each speed reading, e.g. on declutching, a theoretical consumption result is obtained with respect to the number of revolutions of the engine. The device measures the amplitude of the length variations of the spring on the petrol pump, these variations being proportional to the petrol consumption. The amplitude measurement may be effected indirectly by measuring the pressure in the output pipe from the petrol pump using a manometer.
