Multi-way valve. partic. intended for the wine-making industry, can be operated from a distance; it allows the transfer of wine from a principal recipient to a no. of separate tanks placed side by side or apart. The body of the valve is fitted with a flange which has four openings which can be brought successively into communication with the inlet, according to the posn. of the lever. The valve plug is turned by an electric motor and reducing gear and its posn. is remote-controlled by a rotary selector. The latter controls the rotation of the pinion; this drives the flywheel through the chain. The flywheel is mounted to idle on the shaft, carrying the lever, and it drives the latter through a knurled-head screw and the short arm. The valve can be operated from a distance with the greatest precision, for transferring the wine as reqd.
