Abstract

Thermoplastics are transferred by applying on paper which is not coated with an adhesion-inhibitor, heating to spread out thermoplastic, cooling and stripping after wetting reverse of paper with an organic liquid which swells or dissolves the thermoplastics. Wetting pref. takes place between ambient temp. and 100 degrees, C, esp. at 40-80 degrees C, opt. for 10-200 (30-60) secs. The process is used fr the prodn. of marked or printed thermoplastic objects, esp. foils, strips or films. Paper surface itself can be marked with signs, colours, e.g. printing inks, images, relief-prints which are transferred to the thermoplastics.
