Abstract

The socket for an incandescent lamp has a central contact for the axial contact on the bottom of the lamp cap, and a lateral contact to mate with the lateral contact surface of the lamp externally threaded cap. The lateral contact consists of a flat, U-shaped bracket internally threaded towards the ends of its arms to engage the lamp cap thread. The bottom of the U has an eyelet for the connecting wire passing up through a hole in the bottom of the insulating member of the socket. The upper arm ends of the U-shape bracket protrude outwards to lock into recess in the sides of the socket.
