Abstract

The adjacent tower sections fit together by means of bosses and sockets in the ends, each boss being held in place by a transverse bolt passing through the socket sides. Each bolt is in two parts, namely an axially-slotted radially-acting spring sleeve with a taper bore, and a core with a mating conical outer face. The sleeve can be of spring steel, with a cylindrical outer surface, and the bolts in adjacent bosses can be offset by 90 deg. in relation to each other. The design is such that a reliable and rapid link between the adjacent sections of the tower can be made.
