Pref. the optical axis of the target seeker is perpendicularly beneath the axis of the barrel and/or in front of the platform of the cannon tube as is the seat of the sighting tube; this seat may also be behind the tube platform and the eyepiece is connected to the receiver part of the target finder by a sight line transmission. The target seeker is also a target follower; its arrangement gives a field of view unobstructed by bundles of shells.
