Abstract

A protective cover for viewing lenses and similar system particularly for firearms comprises an attachment ring (10) which is mounted on the body of the lens (4) a cover which encloses the aperture of the lens (30) and a spring connecting device (20) which tends to keep the cover outside the field of view of the lens. Only a short length of the lens is covered, this distance usually being about a fifth of the lens diameter. Covering and uncovering is silent, this being important when used with a sporting gun.
