Abstract

An inner sleeve (7), with a bore to receive the head (5) of a workpiece (6), has three equally spaced slots (10) around its periphery. Fitting in these are three pawls (8) pivoted (9) at the rear. An outer sleeve (1) slides over the inner sleeve and has, in its front section (3), three slots (2) spaced 60 deg. to those in the inner sleeve. When the outer sleeve moves forward, the pawls grip the part tightly. A spring (13) returns the sleeve, and the part is ejected. The pawls are removable and replaceable by different types of pawls used for gripping different shape workpieces. Along the centre of the assembly is an adjustable positioning stop (18).
