Abstract

The spindle of a gas valve carries a spring loaded circular tapered plug which fits inside a matching valve seat. A circular groove in the valve seat taper locates an elastic seal ring. The valve spindle has two circular grooves for the location of a spring loaded steel ball. One groove is in use when the valve is open and the second when it is closed. A lug on the underside of the valve spindle knob is held between two ribs on the valve body so that the spindle is prevented from rotating. Valve seat may be bayonet fitted to bottom of valve spindle.
