Abstract

The machine is designed for easy adaptation to handle liquids having varying tendencies to foaming. The container to be filled is held upright in a mounting and in alignment with the nozzle extending downwards from the filler head. Head and mounting are movable to and from each other, so that the nozzle is inside the container during the filling operation. The liquid is delivered from the source to the nozzle via a chamber, its flow being controlled by valves at the source and the nozzle. A plunger has one end in the chamber and moves to and from the chamber inlet, so as to force fluid out and suck more in. Operation of the source and nozzle valves is co-ordinated with the plunger movement.
