Abstract

1,226,390. Reciprocating pumps. PARKWAY PRODUCTS Inc. June 20, 1968 [June 20, 1967], No. 29489/68. Heading F1A. An apparatus for dispensing viscous liquids or heat softenable solids from containers, comprises a movable follower member 32 which seals with the walls of the container by means of a sealing element 33 a plate 37, heated by an element 41 and carried by and below the follower, and which is spaced from the bottom surface of the follower so as to define a reservoir 44 between itself and the follower, and a pump inlet tube 43 which extends into the reservoir 44. The heated plate is spaced from the container walls and has vertical apertures 40 so that heated material in the container may pass about the platen, or through the apertures, into the reservoir 44. The heated platen is lowered onto the surface of the material in the container by reciprocating piston motors, which are secured to a cross head which at the centre supports a pump drive motor connected to the pump tube 24.
