Abstract

A floating vessel has an upper spherical structure which consists of a grid of metal bars which can be supported by e.g. a trimaran structure, the stiffness of the upper structure maintaining the hull portions in the required manner and also ensuring stability. The rod structure ensures good tracking by radar. The propulsion system, located inside the structure may be driven by the wind passing through the structure. At the upper sides and centre of the spherical structure are three floats so that if the vessel to capsize the floats support it before it rights itself.
