Abstract
Checks and measurements on road transport vehicles are effected rapidly and accurately for such factors as speed checks. A vehicle wheel (5) rests on two rollers (1, 2) one roller (1) is a drive roller while the other (2) is a detector. The other wheel (6) of the axle rests on a second pair of rollers (3, 4). The drive rollers (1, 3) are connected by a shaft (7) without any radial play. The circumference of the detecting rollers (2) is known in order that distance is measured for a number of turns controlled by geared discs (10, 15). A variable speed motor (8) is connected via a flexible cable (12) to a tachometer (16) and to a disc (17) whose speed is measured by a stroboscope.
