Abstract

A cartridge for a sporting rifle has base (3) of plastics material, with a hole (5) through the middle and which fits inside the tubular casing, and which has a slight taper on its outside. The outer face (11) is dished or slopes at an angle of between 7 deg. and 10 deg. to its transverse section. This end communicates through the central hole (5) with a deeper depression (8) on the inside face of the base. The design simplifies the securing of the parts, together during assembly so that an efficient seal is obtained when the outer layer is clamped over the end of the cartridge.
