Abstract

Two inclined support arms are mounted on each side of the vehicle and are supported on the chassis at either end by elastic bearings. The inside ends of the arms are joined by a rigid frame member. This has the bearings which support one end of the engine/transmission unit, whose other end is supported by a main bearing on the chassis. The side arms spread the load of the power unit over four mounting points, with no appreciable strengthening required in the chassis at those points. The trailing arms for the axle support are linked to the side arms on swivel bearings and to the axle by eccentric pivots.
