Abstract

The purpose of the invention is to prevent the vibration which takes place when the chopper is started, the knives being in a state of imbalance until the rotor has attained sufficient speed, and the knives are extended radially in relation to the rotor. The knives (6) are mounted in pairs on lugs (21) on the rotor, and can swivel freely on their attachment bolt (14) which passes through a ball bearing (20). A sleeve (23) fits over the lower end of the lug (21) and has two shoulders (26) against which fit the lower edges of the knives. It is these shoulders which maintain the knives in a radial position and also allow them to give if they should meet a solid obstruction e.g. a stone.
