Abstract

A storage tank for liquefied hydrocarbons, connected to a distribution piping system has an assembly for the maintenance of press and for vaporising. The assembly comprises a chamber below the storage vessel, fitted with an inlet pipe opening into a liq. phase of the reservoir, an outlet pipe opening into the gaseous phase above the liq. and enclosed in an inner chamber filled with a heat conducting fluid, an electrical resistance for vaporising the hydrocarbons in the outer chamber when the press of the gaseous phase is too low. A pree. switch energieses the heater when press is insufficient and isolates it when normal conditions are restored. Suitable for a storage tank holding 3,500 kg of liq. of category (A2) having a vapour press at 15 degrees C of more than one atmosphere. Press. equilibrium is achieved immediately even with high consumption rates of gas at a number of points.
