Abstract

The casting powder contains up to 20% calcium borate, the pref. range being 4-20% and the material is pref. milled so that the particle size in 200 mu max. The corrosive nature of the powder is reduced without impairing its fluidity so a longer life can be obtd from the tundish nozzles. Melting point of the powder is lowered.
