Abstract

A cooling device, esp. for use in foundries, consisting of a drum rotating on a horizontal axis and with a truncated cone leading to separate outlets for the castings and the sand, helical guide plates being located in the cone. Water jets are provided to control the temp. and moisture content of the sand, and a sieve of the desired size is fixed in the sand outlet. The drum can be tilted and is fitted with a fume extractor, holes are also provided via which sand can drop onto a small conveyor for continuous examination. Both the castings and the sand are carried sway from the drum outlet on separate conveyors.
