Abstract

Inlet and outlet passages (2, 3) are connected by a central space (37) containing a body (12). The body can be screwed upwards or downwards using a handwheel to adjust the clearance between the sloping surface (11) and the seat (9), so adjusting the minimum flow condition. The central body is hollow, and holds a piston (23) and return spring (24). Pressure on the piston is transmitted via a ball (27) to a spring loaded shaft which opens a passage to the hollow centre of the lower assembly, and via the side opening (17) to the outlet. Releasing the load on the piston returns the valve immediately to the minimum flow condition.
