Abstract

The insulating material (1) consists of a sheet of steel, copper, or aluminium which has been very highly polished. The sheet is corrugated with parabolically shaped corrugations which have their concave polished faces towards the side of the partition from which the heat is to be prevented from escaping (1b). The highly polished faces reflect the heat back in the direction from which it has come. The parabolic sections can be made in a number of individual units and in this case they can have spacers to keep them at a given distance from the partition.
