Abstract

The safety matches have a head contg. 4-8% of polymerisable acrylic ester resin. Pref. the striking surface also contains up to 30% of acrylic ester. The head and/or striking surface may also contain a thickener, pref. >=1 cellulose ester and also a small amt. of a dispersing agent favouring moistening. The head is produced by adding a dispersing agent to a cold glue compsn., then the other components and finally the ester. The striking surface is produced by forming an aqs. mixture of dispersing agent, thickener and conventional components, neutralising it with an ammoniacal soln. and then adding the acrylic esters.
