Abstract

Table or chair has scissor legs (12, 10) and an under seat articulating indented rack (38), and embodies a stop (41) limiting downward rack inclination and a frame (42) restricting free leg end motion, thus improving stability. Viewed laterally the chair legs (12, 10) form an X, inter-articulating about the pin (14). One leg (10) top is pinned to the seat rear and the other (12) has an integral horizontal spindle (30) fitting into the desired slot of the inverted toothed rack (38): this latter lying approximately horizontal and pinned (34) at the rear to the chair seat side support (32). The pin stop (41) prevents downward rack rotation and the U frame (42) prevents free leg end escape.
