Abstract

This invention uses two scales, one coarse, one fine. The coarse scale (1) shows numbered divisions such as kg only, and is pulled by levers (8) against a spring (6). The scale is projected onto a fixed scale (10) finely divided into say gram divisions. An iris (61) is placed between the optical system and the screen so that only one kilogram mark is visible at a time, moving across the screen as the weight changes and providing a moving index on the fine scale. Modifications in colour or shading either side of the kg divisions can be used to make reading easier.
