Abstract

In title method, a layer of E.g. thermoplastic acrylic resin powder. is deposited e.g. electrostatically, baked for 5 min at 170 degrees C so that it melts on to the object, and the residual area electrocoated with dispersed varnish e.g. "I.C.I. 3215" at 200V for 2 min. After pref. sanding lightly and touching up defective spots, article is baked for 15 min at 170 degrees C to cause powder layer to flow into electroplated layer and harden. Corrosion susceptible boundary lines between two coatings are pref. coated with e.g. PVC base varnish. Combines good appearance of acrylic layer on visible areas with good coverage of electrocoated layer on unseen areas.
